By car
Highway 1, known as the Trans-Canada Highway, spans 45 km through the park, serving as the primary route. Public transportation is nonexistent, so most visitors rely on personal vehicles. Vehicle rentals are offered in Golden, B.C., Banff, and Lake Louise, Alberta. For up-to-date road conditions, check 511 Alberta and DriveBC.
By air
Major national and international carriers service Calgary and Vancouver, which are the closest airports. You can make connections to Cranbrook, located 245 km south of Golden, B.C. Airport shuttles from Calgary, Alberta, are accessible to Lake Louise, near the park’s east entrance.
By rail
