Pinhais Cannery & Co is a unique artisan factory of the Portuguese canning industry in the heart of Matosinhos.

It is the only canning company in Portugal that continues to produce using the hand method. Every day women working on a factory are carefully cutting carrots, peppers and onions, and then put 3 selective sardines inside the box. Next, the can is handed over to the final processes of fulfillment and packing.

Company

was founded in 1920 by four partners and still preserves the secrets of centuries in manufacturing. Specialists prepare daily fresh components and select only the best fish for the products. The product is absolutely unique and you will never find it in any supermarket, so don’t miss the opportunity to see and taste it right between the walls of factory!

In 2021 Pinhais Cannery & Co. opened the museum, in order to be able to show visitors how we produce our preserves.

The opening of this Live Museum is the realization of an old dream for the entire Pinhais family, one that we wanted to share with our potential partners for a long time. In front of your eyes, a remarkable brand of Nuri creates an outstanding product. You have the opportunity to see how we clean and filter olive oil, and then absolutely full cans are sent to the packing process.

You will get to know everything about laboratory check and sterilizing, visit the warehouse and even wrap your own can!

We have several activities that are included in the general ticket:

• you can visit the production area and see in loco the artisan process that we have been proud of for more than 100 years;
• learn how to package our canned goods according to techniques that have been practiced for decades;
• taste our magnificent canned goods in our tasting area, located in one of the finest areas of the building.
