Casa da Arquitectura Porto [House of Architecture] dedicates itself to the study, appreciation, and dissemination of architecture as a Portuguese cultural institution.
The museum was founded in 2007. This non-profit organization works to improve the national and international visibility of architecture with the help of people and entities from various cultural and social fields.
The building is located on the site of the former Royal Winery. Besides, Casa da Arquitectura in Matosinhos.
Occupies an area of 5,000 square meters. It features an exhibition hall, gallery, archive, shop, and educational services.
In April 2022, the institution began hosting their first free exhibitions. Here you will find the works of 15 award-winning architects, such as Eduardo Souto de Moura, Paulo Mendes da Rocha, and Gonçalo Byrne.
Additionally, house of architecture [Casa da Arquitectura] Porto is responsible for managing the Álvaro Siza Documentation Center (CDAS) and obtaining assets from other architects. However, discussions surrounding the construction of a building from scratch continued. In November 2017, the old Real Vinícola was inaugurated with a total area of almost 8,000 m2. It comprises Casa da Arquitectura (CdA), the headquarters of the Orquestra de Jazz de Matosinhos, and other commercial spaces.
